At Allenwood School, it's a big deal to Jump Rope for Heart!

On February 6, our school kick's off their participation in a Jump Rope for Heart (JRFH) campaign to advocate heart health, fitness, eating right, getting proper sleep and staying hydrated as well as raising funds on behalf of the American Heart Association.  This is a chance for us to do something for a great cause while the kids gain confidence in raising donations and teaching their families and friends about living a healthy lifestyle.  The event is lead by our own gym teacher, Janice Feeney.  See below for some statistics as reported by Mrs. Feeney:

This will be our 10th year participating in JRFH. Our first year 2004-05 we raised $16,000. Our total donations over the last nine years amount to just over $200,000.

Last year we raised just over $20,000. We ranked 2nd in Monmouth County outof 44 schools, 5th in NJ out of 584 schools, 83rd in the Nation out of over 19,000 schools. This year is the 35th anniversary of JRFH. Our goal for Allenwood School this year is $25,000.

Our kick off assembly will be Thursday, February 6th at 2:30 for the entire student body. Fundraising officially starts then and continues through the month of February. Our big Jump Day is Friday Feb. 21 . All students will jump throughout the day and most donation envelopes will be turned in that day. Please consider making a donation in honor or memory of someone you know that has suffered from heart disease or to just simply make a difference. Every bit helps!

For more information on our campaign, please contact Jan Feeney at jfeeney@wall.k12.nj.us  or donations can be made directly to Allenwood's Jump Rope for Heart page at www.heart.org/jump and search for Allenwood Elementary.
