Rible: No Public Release Of Handgun Owners' Names

State Assemblyman wants to bar publication of handgun owners' information following New York paper's move to publish 30,000 names and addresses

State Assemblyman David Rible says he wants to prevent the public release of handgun permit holders' personal information and plans to introduce a bill that would do just that, according to a release. Rible, R-Monmouth, said Monday that he plans to introduce a bill barring from the public the names of New Jersey residents who hold a handgun permits after a New York newspaper published the names and addresses of tens of thousands of permit holders about two weeks ago. The Journal News in White Plains, NY, published the article, “The Gun Owner Next Door: What You Don’t Know About the Weapons in Your Neighborhood,” which published the names and addresses of more than 30,000 handgun permit holders in Westchester and Rockland counties. This argument makes no sense. The bill was in reaction to what happened in NY and how a newspaper had access to information and published the names/addresses of gun owners, when the "gun topic" is a HOT issue all across the country - what is hard to understand that this bill will make sure a NJ regulation is codified into law to prevent an issue like NY happening in NJ? Rible Honored By Housing Builders Group

Assemblyman named Housing Champion of the Year

Assemblyman Dave Rible this week received an award from a state housing builders group, according to a release. The New Jersey Apartment Association -- a nonprofit trade association which represents builders, owners, developers, and managers of rental homes in the state -- awarded Rible (R-Monmouth) their 2011 Housing Champion of the Year award, according to a release from Rible's office. Rible, a Wall resident, received the award Tuesday at the group's annual conference in Atlantic City, the release said.
