BlueClaws FanFest Next Weekend

Phillies Affiliate welcomes fans back for another year

Spring Training is underway at the Major League level and next weekend the Lakewood Blueclaws will welcome fans home for their annual FanFest event. Set for March 2nd, FanFest is the first day BlueClaws faithful will be able to buy individual game tickets as well as tickets for the South Atlantic League All-Star Game and its festivities. FanFest is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at FirstEnergy Park.  The regular season for the BlueClaws runs from April 4 to September 2 and there are lots of promotions already lined up for the team's home games. Ticket prices for the BlueClaws will also be the same last year with adult tickets set at $10 and $7 for children and seniors.  This season also marks the first for new General Manager …

Baseball, Softball Teams Vie in NJSIAA Sectional Semifinals

Point Beach baseball, Toms River East softball are top seeds still alive; Central, Manasquan, Donovan have both baseball and softball teams still alive

The high school baseball and softball state playoffs resume Tuesday, with the teams still alive just a step away from a sectional title – and just a few games from playing for a group championship. There are 14 baseball and 11 softball teams from the Shore Conference playing in NJSIAA sectional semifinals on Tuesday. Teams that win Tuesday advance to the sectional finals, tentatively scheduled for Friday. Teams that win sectional titles move on to the group semifinals, with their eye on the NJSIAA group championships, scheduled for Saturday, June 9, at Toms River North and Toms River East. BlueClaws Coming Home This Week

Local Minor League squad kicks off season at home on Thursday

It must be summer on the Jersey Shore as the Lakewood BlueClaws, the South Atlantic League Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, kick off another season at FirstEngergy Park this week. When they do return to Lakewood the team figures to have plenty of exciting potential stars on the roster right off the bat. That includes eight players who have been picked in the first 10 rounds of recent MLB drafts. There are also four of the best players among Baseball America's top 30 Phillies prospects. Leading that group figures to be Maikel Franco, the number 10 prospect according to Baseball America.
