Colonia Man ID'd as Man Who Died in Boating Crash

Eric Kim died when his boat and "No Surrender" crashed

A man from the Colonia section of Woodbridge died after his boat and another boat collided on the ocean off Long Branch, state police said on Monday morning. Eric Kim, 31, died after his boat was struck off Long Branch by "No Surrender," a 38-foot boat piloted by Thomas Oloughlin, 44, of Princeton, on Saturday afternoon, said Sgt. Brian Polite. Kim's passenger, Soo Lee, 34, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, suffered cuts, but was not seriously injured, Polite said. Polite said police are not releasing the names of the passengers aboard "No Surrender," but did say that the pilot and passengers were not injured. Kim may have originally been taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune for head injuries. He was later pronounced dead at …

Morning Crash On Route 138 Sends Three To Hospital

Lawrence man charged with drunken driving, assault by auto

A Lawrence man was charged with three counts of assault by auto and drunken driving following a Saturday morning crash on Route 138 that sent three people to the hospital, police said. Paul M. Hough, 33, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and three counts of assault by auto following a 7:23 a.m. collision with a 2009 Toyota at the intersection of the state highway and Old Mill Road, Sgt. Chad Clark said. Hough was traveling east on the state highway in a 2005 Ford Ranger when he hit the Toyota, which was being driven by a 45-year-old Newark man, Clark said. Police did not release the driver’s name. The Toyota also had two passengers. Their  names also were not released by police. All three had to be extricated …

Jules L. Plangere III Charged With Drunken Driving

Son of longtime, former Asbury Park Press publisher drives car into bushes

The son of the former publisher of the Asbury Park Press was arrested and charged Monday with drunken driving after running his car off the road and into some bushes. Jules L. Plangere III, 67, of River Road in town, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated around 8:10 p.m. by Patrolman Mike Malone, Sgt. Frank Lancellotti said. Police responded to a call that a car near the Atlantis Diner on Route 35 South near Old Bridge Road had left the road and hit some bushes in the lot of the restaurant. Malone found a disoriented Plangere had lost control of his white BMW 528 and crashed into the shrubery. It was unclear Tuesday in which direction Plangere was headed or if he was alone at the time of the crash, Sgt. Heath Bono said. …

Crash Shuts Allenwood Road

Collision at intersection of Allenwood and Route 138 shortly before noon

An accident which appears to have involved three cars at the intersection of Allenwood Road and Route 138 shut the northbound portion of the local road before noon today. Southbound Allenwood Road at the intersection with the state highway was blocked off as three cars were being loaded onto flatbed tow trucks shortly before noon Wednesday. Police were directing traffic away from the site of the crash as the cars were loaded. Route 138 traffic was unimpeded. It was not immediately known if anyone suffered injuries in the collision. No further information was immediately available at 12:15 p.m.

Car Crashes Into Pharmacy Building

Campbell's Pharmacy on Route 35 at Sea Girt Avenue site of accident

A car crashed through a brick storefront on Route 35 Thursday morning. Campbell's Pharmacy at 2175 Route 35 at Sea Girt Avenue was not yet open shortly before 9 a.m. when a man crashed a 1994 Ford Aerostar minivan through one of the windows, shattering glass and tossing bricks into the building where a half-dozen employees were preparing to open the business, owner Dennis Campbell said. The 83-year-old driver, who police describe only as a Sea Girt resident, was unharmed, according to a release from the Wall Police Department. No one inside the pharmacy was injured either, Campbell said. The driver told police he was pulling into a parking spot in front of the pharmacy when his foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator, according…
