Sets up new task force to study how special education money is spent
A bill aimed at streamlining special education programs in New Jersey’s public schools was signed by Governor Chris Christie this week. The bill, A1365, creates the Task Force on Improving Special Education for Public School Students, comprised of 16 gubernatorial appointments and the state Education Commissioner. The 16 would include parents, teachers, administrators and advocates involved in the special education community, according to the bill. The panel would be charged with studying issues such as the methods of classifying special needs students strategies to reduce costs of out-of-district placements and program standards to ensure programs meets students’ needs and focus on achievement. A state bill that would prohibit the public release of names of gun permit holders has moved out of a State Assembly committee Wednesday, officials said. Sponsored by Assemblymen Dave Rible and Ron Dancer, both R-Monmouth and Ocean, the bill seeks to restrict public access to the names and addresses of gun permit holders under the state’s Open Public Records law. Rible, a Wall resident, previously has said he is opposed to the release of such information because it could prove potentially dangerous to law-abiding citizens, such as law enforcement officers. A bill aimed at streamlining special education programs in New Jersey’s public schools is headed to the governor’s desk, having cleared both houses of the Legislature by unanimous votes. The bill, A1365, on Monday passed unanimously in the state Assembly. It had previously garnered an identical response in the state Senate. Assemblyman named Housing Champion of the Year
Assemblyman Dave Rible this week received an award from a state housing builders group, according to a release. The New Jersey Apartment Association -- a nonprofit trade association which represents builders, owners, developers, and managers of rental homes in the state -- awarded Rible (R-Monmouth) their 2011 Housing Champion of the Year award, according to a release from Rible's office. Ok, let me see if I have this correctly, people that have guns, are at risk, because people who may not have guns know? Is that right? And, as it goes if one were to observe an individual in public brandishing a firearm, then the totters right to privacy to bear arms means one could not yell out a warning of 'HE's GOT A GUN!'..or worse, call the Police to report a person with gun?
