VIDEO: FBI Joins Wall Police On Trail Of Jewelry Thief

Cold cases in Wall and Old Bridge have federal interest

The FBI has joined investigators from the Wall Township and Old Bridge Police departments on two old jewelry heists the federal authorities believe have ties to vehicle thefts in New York. Wall Police, investigating a 2009 robbery at Ballew Jewelers in the Brook 35 Shopping Center on Route 35 near Sea Girt Ave., put out a call other agencies that might have had a similar robbery.  One did. A 2007 heist in Old Bridge fit the same description. In both cases, the armed robber wore a clear mask, gardening-type gloves, lanyard around his neck and a sweatshirt. The robber also arrived and left in a box truck and demanded very specific jewelry. In both cases, the heist took fewer than three minutes, police said. Authorities are not saying what …

FBI Arrests Wall Man In Home Invasion Robbery

Indictment says Wall man helped tie up and rob former employer

A Wall Township man was among four arrested by the FBI in a two-state sweep of people indicted in a year-old armed home invasion robbery, authorities said. Thatch Nguyen, 33, was arrested and charged on Tuesday for his participation in a January 2010 home invasion in Bartonsville, Pa., according to a release from the office of the U.S. District Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, based in Philadelphia, Pa. Nguyen and four others – Buu Huu Truong, 35, of Upper Darby, Pa.; Den Van Nguyen, 40, of Philadelphia, Pa.; Tahn Lee, 43 of Philadelphia, Pa. and Teo Van Bui – entered the home of a nail salon owner on Jan. 26, 2010, assaulted the owner and tied him up with duct tape while they rummaged through the home and stole valuables…
