Quick Chek On Board's Agenda Wednesday

Board of adjustment ready to hear application targeting former State Police barracks on Allenwood Road

An application to build a Quick Chek convenience store and gas station on the site of the former State Police Barracks on Allenwood Road is scheduled before the Board of Adjustment Wednesday. The plan, which proposes to build a 16-pump gas station and 5,496-square-foot store at 2101 Allenwood Road and Route 138 East, has been vigorously opposed by neighboring residents. The application has not been heard since February, when representatives from Quick Chek proposed an alteration to their original plan to get people into and out of the site from Allenwood Road. Instead of putting traffic onto Allenwood Road near the existing jug handle, the new plan calls for extending access beyond Allenwood Road about 150 feet before meeting up with the …

So the matter was continued till July. While I understand the board and its processes, Quick Chek appears to be stretching this out. It is obvious the longer this goes the more difficult it is for people to continually show up for an event is delayed. The proposal is bad, the applicant is spinning everything, and we should all not drink their Koolaid and show up with larger than normal in the …   more ›

Wawa Hearing Postponed

Local company wants to combine properties, build Wawa on Route 34

A scheduled hearing before the Board of Adjustment on an application to build a Wawa convenience store and gas station on Route 34 and Hurley Pond Road was scuttled Wednesday. The applicant, CJS Investments of Wall, asked to have the hearing postponed to a later date, Board of Adjustment members said. A new date was unclear Wednesday night. CJS Investments, of Wall, wants to combine portions of two adjoining parcels at the intersection to build a 4,000-square-foot Wawa convenience store with 16-pump gas station with a separate, 2,968-panel solar electricity farm behind it. The company finished up their pitch on the Wawa proposal at the April 4 meeting and is scheduled to begin testimony on the solar farm. It is possible the board could …

Board of Adjustment to hear testimony Feb. 22

The Board of Adjustment on Wednesday postponed a scheduled hearing of an application to build a Wawa convenience store with gas station and a separate solar farm on property at Route 34 and Hurleys Pond Road. Board Chair Wilma Morrissey announced at the meeting that the application, brough by CJS Investments of Wall, would not be heard. No reason was given. The application is scheduled to be heard again on Feb. 22, Morrissey said. The Board of Adjustment on Wednesday declined to vote on a minor subdivision that would create space for a Wawa convenience store and gas station and a nearly 3,000 panel solar farm on Hurley Pond Road and Route 34.
