UPDATE: Farmingdale Resident Dies From Injuries in Herbertsville Road Crash

Crash also injured Freehold couple

UPDATE Jan. 26 12:33 p.m.: Jeffrey Smith, 18, of Farmingdale died Friday at 5 p.m. from injuries suffered in a crash on Herbertsville Road the previous day, a spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office confirmed. Smith was seriously injured and two more were transported to a local hospital following a crash on Herbertsville Road Thursday afternoon. Ptl. Scott Brooks of the Howell Police Department reported that a little before 3 p.m. Smith was driving a 1997 Toyota Corolla south on Herbertsville Road when he unexplainably crossed the center line near the Circle A Horse Farm. After crossing the road Smith collided with a 2001 Honda driven by 74-year-old Nicholas Spinelli of Freehold. Also in the car was Spinelli's wife …

Special Agent Accidentally Shoots Himself at Police Academy Gun Range

Transported to Jersey Shore for treatment of a gunshot wound to the foot.

Update, 3:10 p.m.: Bill Quinn, a spokesman for the New Jersey Treasury Department identified the Special Agent Trainee as Steven Raimondo who had worked as a civil investigator with the Division of Taxation for 12 years. Quinn said Raimondo began training for his new position four months ago. Quinn said Raimondo is expected to recover from his injuries and be able to return to work.   Update, 1:45 p.m.: An initial report by the Howell Police Department indicated the individual shot was a recruit. Subsequent information from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office stated the man was a special agent.  A special agent of the New Jersey Department of Treasury is being treated at a local hospital after accidentally shooting himself during training…

Suspect Apprehended After 'Intense' Search

Helicopter, K9 units used for search near West Farms, Casino and Peskin Roads.

The Howell Township police department reported on their facebook page that the search for a male who ran from his car during a traffic stop was successful and the suspect has been apprehended. The incident began at approximately 9 p.m. in the vicinity of the Manasquan Reservoir, according to wire reports. Police reported at 10:27 p.m. on their facebook page that the suspect was apprehended. Unconfirmed reports describe the suspect as knocking on a door of a private residence prior to being arrested. No further information was available. Police had reported that the suspect was possibly armed and that residents should not answer their door to strangers and should contact the department by dialing 911 if they were approached or saw anything …

Charges Filed in Colts Neck Rd. Crash

Farmingdale resident faces assault charges among others

A Farmingdale resident involved in an accident at the intersection of Route 33 and Colts Neck Rd. on June 15 now faces several charges as a result of the crash.  According to a press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's office, Farmingdale resident Desiree L. Moore, 36, was driving her car with her 15-year-old daughter and 7-month-old son as passengers. Moore was traveling north on Colts Neck Rd. at around 11 p.m. when she failed to stop at the intersection, the press release said. She collided with a car heading east on Route 33.  The two people in the car Moore hit were both injured.
