Montana Crews Heading Home

Incident Management Team from Montana helped to clear hundreds of miles of roads

They’ve helped clear about 600 miles of road in six counties since the beginning of the storms that downed countless trees and for a time left the entire town in the dark. But now, the 26 teams of 20-person crews managed by Northern Rockies Incident Management Team have removed brush and felled trees and downed poles and otherwise cleared roads so that emergency responders could have a clear path to do their jobs are heading home. The team, which has headquartered for a week at the Glendola Firehouse sub-station on Industrial Way, are wrapping up operations and heading back to Big Sky country, leaving behind grateful Wall Township officials. REMINDER: School District Calls Storm Meeting

Changes to the school calendar to be discussed at Tuesday, Nov. 13, meeting

The school district has scheduled an open public forum on Tuesday to discuss changes to the district's schedule prompted by two weeks of school closings following the recent storms, school officials said. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Intermediate School auditorium. The Board of Education meeting scheduled for that same night, has been put off until Nov. 20, according to a message from schools Superintendent Daniel Simon. The meeting is intended to dicuss the impact of the recent storms, the district's communication and changes to the school calendar, Simon said. Those attending the meeting are enouraged to bring a donation to families in need. The Wall teachers' union is continuing to collect cleaning supplies, …

Many Back Online, Thousands Still Without Power

Utility company says everyone back online by Saturday; police have doubts

Good Morning, Wall Township. It's 36 degrees and just more than 3,000 residents are still without power, in the cold, for the 12th day running. That's down from a high of 4,200 on Thursday. The Glendola substation on Marconi Road has been put back online, officials said. Unfortunately, areas such as West Hurley Pond Road and Campbell Road went dark simultaneously. Jersey Central Power & Light appears to have pushed back the date to have everyone in town back online from Friday to Saturday, according to their outage map. On Thursday, the company had said in an Office of Emergency Management release that all residents in Wall would be online by midnight Friday. Storm Update: Snow Compounds Power Problems

More than 4,000 without power; JCP&L says everyone restored by Friday

Wednesday night's Nor'easter dumped heavy, wet snow on an already storm-damaged power infrastructure, complicating efforts to restore electricty to thousands already without power and cutting power to at least 1,000 more, authorities said Thursday. About 4,200 residents are without power in town, as of about noon Thursday, according to the township Office of Emergency management. About 1,200 out-of-state utility line workers are due to arrive today to help restore power. Jersey Central Power & Light continues to stress that everyone in town will have power by Friday, a release from the OEM says.
