Krissy Suckow finished Boston Marathon about 20 minutes before bomb went off
Krissy Suckow, who ran in the Boston Marathon on Monday, had time on the drive home to the Jersey Shore to think about how someone planned the bombing that left three dead, including an 8-year-old child, and at least 141 wounded. And she just kept thinking about the 5K race that was run the day before. "They had a 5K race the day before set up on the marathon course," Suckow said, as she rode in her father's car as he drove them home to Wall on Monday evening. "The finish line and everything were all set up for the marathon the next day, so anyone could see the whole course the day before and plan exactly where they wanted to do this," said Suckow, 29, a seventh and eighth grade teacher at Rahway Academy in Union County. And plan they …

Plan to close bridge in Point Pleasant cancelled due to high winds
The Route 88 bridge will remain open tonight, according to the state Department of Transportation (DOT). The original plan was for the bridge to be closed tonight until 5 a.m. Friday so a contractor for the Army Corps of Engineers could do work. Utility cautions that using generators can be dangerous
JCP&L is getting ready for Hurricane Sandy, with extra staff on standby and a lot of lessons learned. JCP&L clearly has not forgotten the criticism it took after Tropical Storm Irene ravaged New Jersey in August 2011. Utility officials learned from it, made a wide array of improvements in technology, communications and planning and they're ready to put that to the test, said JCP&L spokesman Ron Morano. "We've made improvements to how we provide customer information," Morano said, adding the company is doing all it can to prepare for Sandy and to plan on how to keep officials and residents informed and well-served. For starters, JCP&L is doing what everyone else is doing: closely watching weather forecasts, trying to figure out when and …
