Second half of father/son purse-snatching duo arrested Wednesday
Wall Police have arrested the fugitive father involved in a recent purse snatching from a ShopRite parking lot, authorities said Wednesday. Joseph Frystock, 56, around 2 p.m. Wednesay afternoon was found at a local medical center where he had been admitted, Lt. Walter Pomphrey said. Pomphrey did not say which medical center, nor did he say why Frystock was admitted. Frystock was arrested and charged with one count of third degree theft and one count of third degree conspiracy to commit theft. He was released after posting $15,000 bail, Pomphrey said. It's all to help people impacted by Hurricane Sandy. ShopRite has lowered the amount shoppers must spend in order to qualify for a free Thanksgiving turkey, according to Supermarket News. The traditional ShopRite turkeyfest happens once a year. During that time, shoppers who spend a certain amount of money can pick up a free turkey for their Thanksgiving table. This year, the supermarket recognizes that people who were affected by the recent hurricane probably didn't have food shopping on their minds - especially with areas of central New Jersey not having electricity, in some cases, for more than a week. ShopRite begins program to help stock food bank shelves
Elected officials from five area towns spent a few minutes as grocery baggers at a Route 34 store Wednesday to kick off a fund-raising drive to benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Belmar Mayor Matthew Doherty, Manasquan Mayor George Dempsey, Brielle Mayor Thomas Nicol, Lake Como Mayor Michael Ryan and Wall Committeeman Todd Luttman bagged a few groceries at the Route 34 ShopRite store to kick off the company’s “Partners In Caring,’’ program. Police have arrested a mother and daughter team from Point Pleasant Borough they say are responsible for the recent spate of purse snatchings at Wall-area grocery stores. Jennifer L. Barth, 45, and Lindsay A. Barth, 21, both of River Road, were arrested Wednesday after police said they received several anonymous calls identifying the suspects after their photos were publicized by the media. Authorities had been searching for the suspects since June 30, when a string of five purse snatchings began over a 10-day period. Police have recorded incidents of thefts from elderly shoppers at the A&P on Route 35 as well as the ShopRite on Route 34.
