Township Committee continues criticisms of JCP&L's performance
Effective communication and selfless teamwork enabled Wall Township's government to keep residents safe as the state suffered through superstorm Sandy, officials said Tuesday night. "Everyone stepped up to the plate," township Administrator Jeff Bertrand said at the regular meeting of the Township Committee. "Volunteers are the backbone of this township," Mayor Jeff Forster said in agreement. Committee members, residents and department heads lauded the efforts of staff and volunteers at the meeting, the first regular session since Sandy made landfall and knocked out power to much of Wall for almost two weeks. New additions to the force to replace retiring officers, Chief says
Four new police officers became part of the Wall Township Police Department on Wedesday, each taking the oath of office at the Township Committee's regluar meeting. Sean Timothy Duggan, 29, was a Class 2 Special Police Officer with Spring Lake Police. He graduated from Catholic Uniersity of America n Washington, D.C. He lives in Spring Lake. Orin Ilford McKay, Jr., 24, was employed as a Class 2 Special with the Long Branch Police. He holds a master's degree and a bachelor's from Monmouth University. He lives in East Orange. Patrick Brady, 24, was employed as a police officer in Ashalnd, N.H. and has worked for three years as a Special Police officer with Spring Lake Police. Man fled after traffic stop near Exit 98
A Pequannock man wanted on parol violations was caught around 7 p.m. tonight after he fled on foot following an afternoon traffic stop, bringing out police dogs, a state police helicoptor and a phalanx of officers tracking the man. Kevin T. Brown, 37, was arrested after a 7-hour manhunt in a woodeded area around Garden State Parkway mile marker 97.6, according to Wall Police Sgt. Joseph Wilbert. Brown was charged with one count each of second-degree aggravated assault, third degree resisting arrest, fourth degree hindering, fourth degree obsruction, fourth degree criminal mischief, fourth degree causing or risking widespread injury or damage, Tresspassing and disorderly conduct, Wilbert said. Flooding near Allaire State Park has shut roads
Sunday's intense rains have forced the closure of roads near the Manasquan River and Allaire State Park, police said Monday. River floods early Monday morning closed Hospital and Allenwood-Lakewood roads until further notice, Sgt. Joseph Wilbert said. This part of the flood plain is located in Allaire State Park in Wall, NJ and Manasquan Wildlife Management Area, Wilbert said. Hospital Road is closed at Atlantic Avenue. Sqankum-Allenwood Road and Allenwood-Lakewood is closed at Metedeconk Road and Sandpiper Way, Wilbert said. Monmouth County Highway Division was notified and has set up a detour directing drivers away from the area, Wilbert said.
