Former Wall schools administrator and Lacey superintendent accused of official misconduct, lying to police
The attorney for Lacey Superintendent Sandra Brower, a former Wall district administrator, said the charges Tuesday that she tried to hide a possible sex-abuse case are “false and ridiculous.’’ Edward C. Bertucio, of the Red Bank-based firm Hobbie Corrigan & Bertucio, said he has asked for the “earliest possible trial date in an effort to gain the immediate exoneration of Sandra Brower, to clear her name and seek her reinstatement in her current position.’’ Brower, 46, of Allenwood-Lakewood Road in Wall, was indicted Monday on charges of official misconduct, hindering and obstruction. Incident was Oct. 23
Two Wall men have been charged with attempted burglary, in an indictment handed up this week by Monmouth County grand juries. Vincent Petrucelli, 20, of Shadowbrook Court, and Christopher Hayes, 20, of Sea Girt Ave., were each charged with one count of attempted burglary, a third degree crime. According to the indictment, the pair attempted to burglarize a commercial business when it was closed. The incident allegedly occured Oct. 23. The indictment was handed up April 25 in Freehold.

Accident near Allenwood Road
A two-vehicle accident shuttered Route 138 for three hours Sunday after a passenger was ejected from a vehicle in the crash. Wall Police Sgt. Chad Clark said the accident at 4:38 p.m. Sunday at Route 138 and Allenwood Road involved two vehicles: a Chevy Blazer and Toyota FJ Cruiser traveling in the east bound lane of Route 138. John Lecorchick, 40 of Howell was driving the Blazer when he collided with Daniel C. Alpaugh, 58 of Spring Lake Heights. The Toyota FJ Cruiser was also occupied by Patricia Romano, 56 of Spring Lake Heights. The collision caused Lecorchick's Blazer to overturn, ejecting Lecorchick, said Clark. Area photographer catches rare sight
Mike Black, Wall Township-based photographer and teacher, caught this photograph of a comet passing through the skies over Wall Township Wednesday evening. The comet is visible over the next few nights but it is very low in the west and can only be seen for a short time after sunset and before the comet sets. A pair of binoculars recommended. Comets are mostly ice, mixed with rock and substances. When they near the sun, they heat up, the ice begins to melt and the ice and rock and debris for a 'tail' which is illuminated by the sun.

Man and a juvenile accomplice recorded and posted to YouTube attacks on homeless man
A Belmar man who beat a homeless man, recorded and posted videos of the attacks on YouTube last year was sentenced to three years in state prison in a Freehold courtroom Friday. Taylor Giresi, 21, of 15th Ave. was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Anthony J. Mellaci Jr. for the Dec. 2011 attacks on David Ivins, a well-known homeless man who has lived in the Shore Area for decades. Videos of the beatings, recorded by a then-juvenile accomplice whose name was never released by Wall Township police, were posted to YouTube and show Giresi smiling, laughing and joking before and after beating Ivins on two separate occasions. Recent retirement has opened position
The town is looking to hire a tax/utility collector working out of town hall, 2700 Allaire Ave. The township is accepting resumes for the full-time position now, according to the town’s website. Candidates should be able to handle 11,000 line items, 10,500 water/sewer accounts with quarterly billing, according to the job description, and have a CTC certification. Familiarity with Edmunds Computer System is helpful, but not necessary, the post says. Tip from resident turns into drug bust
A tip from a resident led to the arrest of a group of people on various drug charges to begin the new year, police said. Police were called to 2379 Peter Court, adjacent to the Edgar Felix Bike Path, around 10:30 p.m. Jan. 2 to investigate a suspicious person report, Sgt. Erik Ertle said. There, property owner David Migliore, 50, told officers that he and two others were placing wildlife cameras on different locations of the 12-acre property, Ertle said. Migliore was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Newark. He was escorted back to his home where police found heroin. Two others also were arrested: Rande Palmer, 34, of Peter Court, was arrested and charged with identity theft, hindering his own apprehension and possession of crack …

Town hall will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, December 25th in observance of the Christmas holiday. Trash and recycling pickup will continue as sheduled Monday, Dec. 24, for those who normally receive it on that day. Anyone scheduled to receive trash or recycling pickup on Dec. 25, however, will have to wait a day. Yours will be picked up on Dec. 26.
