Police: Disgruntled Employee Burglarizes Former Employer

Man took landscaping equipment after being fired, police say

A disgruntled worker fired by a Wall Township businessman returned the next day to steal $5,000 and tried to pawn it at a local shop, police said. Todd Kane, 31, of Belmar, was arrested by Wall Township Police Friday and charged with two counts of burglary and a single count of theft after he stole landscaping equipment off the property of a West 18th Avenue resident. The resident, who was not identified by police, owns a business and had fired Kane the previous day, Sgt. Erik Ertle said. Kane, who was fired on Thursday from the business owned by the Wall resident, burglarized a truck and a trailer parked on the resident’s property and took several chain saws and blowers from a locked trailer, Ertle said.
