How Does Crime in Wall Compare to Neighboring Towns?

NJ Spotlight has created an interactive map of 2011 crime rates in New Jersey

Wall residents can easily compare how their municipality's crime rate in 2011 compared to neighboring towns with an interactive map created by NJ Spotlight. The map plots the total crime rate per 1,000 people for seven index crimes (violent crimes include murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, and non-violent crimes are burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft) using data from the recently released 2011 Uniform Crime Report. Wall's crime rate per 1,000 residents was 18.2, well below Monmouth's 23.7 and the state's 24.7. Neptune and Asbury Park had the highest crime rates per 1,000 residents in 2011 among nearby municipalities, with 72.1 victims per 1,000 residents in Neptune and 95.6 in Asbury Park. Police Brighten the Holidays for Kids at Jersey Shore Medical Center

Donations help officers make toy run

Wall Township police brought Christmas cheer to children at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Police distributed donated toys to 36 children ranging in age from a few weeks old to 17 as part of a community policing initiative aimed at showing children that police are there to help them. Officers were able to help a 4-year-old whose home was destroyed by superstorm Sandy rebuild her doll collection with the gift of donated Snow White dolls. Another little girl was the lucky recipient of a Dora the Explorer play set, while several of the teens got cameras or mp3 players, donated by Best Buy.
