Wall Stadium Releases Turkey Derby Results

Three days of racing held over Thanksgiving weekend at the Route 34 auto track

This year's 39th running of Wall Speedway's Turkey Derby promised three days of high-speed excitment and features galore. Turkey Derby Rolls Off This Weekend At Wall Stadium

Annual event draws big crowds over three days beginning Friday

A big weekend of racing kicks off Friday at Wall Stadium as the 39th annual Turkey Derby lights up the Route 34 auto racetrack. Drivers from around the country come to compete in the three-day event, the biggest in the racetrack's calendar. The Turkey Derby kicks off when the green flag is waived at 2:15 p.m. Friday for six feature races. Legend cars, Late Models, Sportsman, Trucks, Factory Stocks and 4-Cylinder divisions will all battle it out on the 1/3-mile oval. Practice sessions begin at 8:45 a.m. and qualifying heats are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Grandstands open at 9:30 a.m. Saturday's races will include TQs, Tour Modifieds, Dirt Modifieds, SK/Wall Modifieds and Street Stocks. Blewett Wins Race Named For His Brother

Jimmy Blewett wins the 76-lap "John Blewett III Memorial'' race at Wall Stadium

Jimmy Blewett raced to an emotional victory in a modified stock car race held in memory of his brother, Wall Stadium track officials said Monday. Blewett, of Howell, on Saturday won the 76-lap “John Blewett III Memorial,’’ an annual race held at the Route 34 racetrack honoring the memory of Jimmy’s brother, who was killed in a racing accident in Connecticut 2007, according to a track release. Jimmy Blewett started the race in fifth position in the 18-car field. He ran fourth through much of the race, stepping up two second on lap 29, the release said. Blewett led the field after a crash forced a restart on lap 35. Anthony Sesely of Matawan Sesely slid into second and chased Blewett all the way to the checker flag. Freehold’s Steven Reed, …

Rain Nixes Races At Wall Stadium

Weather forced a cancellation of racing over the weekend

Heavy afternoon showers and thunderstorms and the forecast for more into the evening forced Wall Stadium officials to call off Saturday night’s scheduled racing, track officials said. Track management is looking for a date to reschedule the "Pack The Track'' night, where tickets were to be discounted and other festivities were planned. The Route 34 racetrack is scheduled to hold "First Responders Night'' Aug. 18. All emergency personnel will be admitted free with identification. TQ Midgets, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, Legend Cars, the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club and a Powder Puff race will all be on the agenda, according to a track release.

"Pack The Track" Fan Appreciation Night At Wall Stadium

Route 34 auto racing track slashing ticket prices on Saturday

Wall Stadium is discounting tickets for Saturday’s auto races in a “Pack the Track’’ fan appreciation night, track officials said. Adult tickets will be $12, $6 for kids 8 to 16 years old and free for those aged 7 and younger.  Adult tickets are normally $18. Two 35-lap main events are scheduled for the Modified stock cars, as well as racing in the Sportsman, Factory Stock, Legend cars and the new 4-cylinder division. An on-track party where fans can meet the drivers and look close-up at their cars is also planned, according to a stadium release. The pair of 35-lap Modified main events are pivotal in the race for the 2012 driving crown. Former champions Anthony Sesely of Matawan and Chas Okerson of Freehold are at the top of the point …

Blewett DQ'd After Winning Modified 40-Lapper

Second-place finisher Chas Okerson picks up second-straight win at Wall Stadium

Modified stock car driver Jimmy Blewett was disqualified after winning the 40-lap main feature race at Wall Stadium Saturday, giving second-place finisher Chas Okerson the win. Motorcycle Stunt Show Set For Wall Stadium Saturday

Track hosts "Scout Night'' where scouts in uniform get in free

A motorcycle stunt show and a new racing division are set to make their first appearances at Wall Stadium on Saturday as the Route 34 track hosts “Scout Night,’’ track officials said. Scouts who arrive in uniform are admitted free this weekend as a motorcycle stunt show presented by “Down 4 Life’’ takes to the track, located at the state highway and Hurleys Pond Road. Five divisions of stock car racing are also on the agenda. Scouts are encouraged to bring their Pinewood Derby cars to race on the stadium’s pinewood racetrack, according to Jeff Gravatt, stadium spokesman.
