ReplyThank you for this update! ...and at your request some more positive news from Inlet Drive is the Inlet Apartments (which remained largely unchanged for 60+ years) sold after the storm and shall be re-introduced to our area as "INLET BREEZE" this May! 8 cozy, but very high end units overlooking the Inlet & Ocean will be available for 3 night to weekly get-a-ways - stay tuned!! On the other hand many homeowners are still dealing with red tape between insurance companies, mortgage issues and local rebuilding restrictions... We remain vigilant for these folks but at over 4 months since the event the frustration is boiling over!

In re-reading this it sounds like I'm calling out Patch - Instead of "where's that article" what I mean is "where's that discussion". I think we can all agree Patch has done and continues an amazing service to the community, thanks Patch!

Woah - people do what they can and HOW they can. Mayor Barella spending a little time with responders is what he could do, holding a fundraiser to the tune of THOUSANDS of $$$ for needy families nearly obliterated by Sandy, just before Christmas was what Martell's could do...in addition to the "shore up the school" events etc... Other than that they've been trying to fix the major portions of their establishment that was washed away in the storm. Why can't anyone talk sensibly here, yeesh.

First, THANK YOU...for every day thank you - and to answer your question simply: "It doesn't". Was not the right time/place but a chamber event isn't the time/place to put those other issues on a pedestal either. In any other venue it would be a non issue but instead this nonsense is in the forefront over other issues like a possible town-wide effort for a hazard mitigation grant, the new ABFE issues impacting EVERYONE, the uphill battle in spreading awareness that "We're Open"... FYI the HMPG is a competitive grant the town must partake, individuals apply to the town then they submit as a town, as one...imagine that. The original deadline for that was TODAY - but we are talking about more parking signs and grandstanding with letters.

ReplyAnother wonderful headline from Point Pleasant Beach! The volunteers, first responders...bona fide hero's deserve the recognition from their local dignitaries. Hopefully whatever misguided pride involved here can be tossed aside for a few hours as the interests of these well deserved others are put first. I'm not happy about the extension of the parking plan but where's that article? Going out of your way & putting your demand in writing is just as lame as the decision to read it in front of everyone at a council meeting although admittedly, it is something that needed to be shared but there's a time and a place. Council meetings are not. Installation dinners honoring our own are not. These things don't happen every week, lets get it together & can we please start positively promoting Point Pleasant Beach? I still get calls asking if the bridges to town are open yet gang - I know some don't care but local businesses, ALL of them...property values are all in peril. There are bigger things happening and the fact that all that has come from last night's council meeting is this shameful bit of news is proof positive that we are in real trouble. You both said your piece - congratulations and: http://youtu.be/CspjqdA8aPI (thats sarcasm)

ReplyYou can add 315 Parkway Point Pleasant Beach CLOSED 1/9 $470,000 this deal went under contract before the storm and thankfully was spared any major devastation/flooding. Additionally the Inlet Apartments recently closed for $650,000 (this was not in the MLS) and are currently being renovated in time for Memorial Day!

ReplyThis is a "reimbursement" so those applying still must be raising either way but thats to receive the grant - if you apply and don't raise your home it doesn't appear that there is any action to force an applicant to raise... Qualifying homes would be ranked, the application may have that information

It means you will have a couple years of low subsidized rates although eventually they'll want everyone into compliance...

70% of the 600M allocated for RREM goes to Median/Low income households, the remaining 30% would be 1st come 1st served. Reminder the deadline to file with FEMA through SBA is APRIL 1!! ...lets hope we see more relief at those #'s there will be thousands with no hope for aid.
