ReplyThe storms are named during the winter now because they are not much different then a tropical storm. During the summer months the jet stream the storms follow is basically the same as winter, just that jet stream itself is located differently.

Reply@Mrs G., if you think it just the one party who is doing nothing, then there lies a big problem. Along with the issues from them, I haven't seen or heard anything from the other party as well. We have one that is to busy having his party defend his unethical behavior, another one who might fall over if he were to walk around, and the biggest leader more worried about everything else other than us (except when he visited the one time before the election for his photo op). I haven't heard anything from any of the parties for what is going on. What I hope most realize is that we need to get rid of them all and start over with people who actually care, and not just individuals with money who can afford to get the job and do nothing but benefit themselves.

Reply@letsgetreal, yes there are many to blame, including ourselves. First off remember this is not a barrier island house, this is a mainland home. We can blame government for this this. Till this day, the rules have not exactly been set on how we are to rebuild if you live on the water or even somewhat by the water. We can blame insurance companies who just haven't paid yet, and/or mortgage companies who wont sign off on the check so people can get started. This is NJ, and definitely not cheap to live here. So image trying to pay current property taxes (which towns are demanding even if no one is living in the home), and try to pay for a rental home. Especially as a lot (not all) rental properties are not priced where they use to be, or there just isn't any around (except what FEMA offers in crappy areas like sec. 8 in Camden.) Now there is FEMA, who just keeps on creating a bigger mess by changing its rules as they go along. I bet if you were ILLEGAL and renting in Sea Side, you are well taken care of. Or you could be like myself, wife, and 3 kids (who rented) are now getting denied any assistance because the rules all the sudden changed, and they really aren't listed anywhere for us the people to know. There is more that I could say, but I will stop there before I get myself upset over an idiot who has no clue.

On the article Flood Maps Could Alter Shoreline 'Considerably' and at 'Unimaginable' Cost, Mayor Says

ReplySo let me get this straight. According to the FEMA and Christie, I now live in an area that has a chance of flooding 8 feet 26% of the time over a 30 year mortgage. So that comes down to a storm every 7.5 yrs or so. So why are they all still calling this storm "a once in a century storm" then? Now this is based off the wording used from FEMA's own website for zone a & z.
Makes you wonder who is getting that next board of directors job that is getting ready to open up due to the crappy response the insurance companies have had over this.....

ReplyTganks for giving in so easily and forcing many of usout of our homes. Hasn't he read that people are still waiting on ICC funding from Katrina. So by accepting these maps so easily, how does that make the ICC funding available to us citizens. We already have a President and federal officials forget about us, now our own govenor does the same.
The other part to this story that he seems to forget iswhat is going to happen to everyones property taxes, even the ones who dont live in the flood zones...
