ReplyA Superintendent hires principals. When 3 years have passed and tenure is given, they are in the driver's seat until they retire. When Principals have a lock on the district it will take a while for effective change.

ReplyI agree with Kathy and Really? The BOE isn't just one meeting a month. It's a volunteer position that you not only have to be elected to, but on top of it receive no pay! Why do you think there are so many uncontested BOE elections? Why do you think Donald Herbert is still on the Board? Dan Simon is a great guy, and I wish him the greatest success. I don't blame him for wanting to leave the mess, but you shouldn't blame the current BOE for the problems of the past either. A Quick fix isn't in our best interest. We have to rebuild.

On the article K. Hov: 200-Home Development Would Improve Traffic Flow On Route 34

ReplyCars are the least of our worries and quite frankly the Affordable Housing portion is as well. When you build a development of 200 units, I would expect the estimated number of new students dumped onto the Wall School System to be approx 2 per unit. That's 400 kids. That's a whole new school. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here, but last time this happened in Wall it was cataclysmic for one of the elementary schools. No pre planning was done at all. The children were put into 1 already hugely populated elementary. This cannot happen again. If like I said before, Hovnanian wants to build we need a new elementary school and additions on both the Intermediate and High School. I will never forget a conversation I had with past Township Committee members when the last big development was built. Aside from being told there was no way any of the children would ever be sent to Allenwood School, I don't think any other plans were made to accomodate the huge influx of students. People need to be educated as to the ramifications of this. Hovnanian doesn't give a crap about our community. We are just another empty lot to build more of their substandard housing. We have to watch what's going on and not let the past repeat itself.

ReplyDoes anyone know who eventually gets paid for the water? Is there any advantage to show them more water use? You really have to wonder how many of us could have been charged for 7001 gallons and never noticed. Do it to enough people and you'd end up with a tidy sum. Plus. Who would ever know?

ReplySo. If I'm reading this correctly, Hovnanian can sue Wall Twp to have the right to build Affordable Housing just because we have to satisfy more of our obligation? So. If this is correct, Hovnanian gets to build it, sell it and walk away leaving us holding the bag for the education of the children who move in there and other town services the occupants will need ? The next meeting can't come soon enough. I will be asking the Affordable Housing Attorney if we can sue Hovnanian to build a new school, and other infrastructure needs that will come about from a new development. I bet Hovnanian has some really expensive Lawyers that will be happy to put the screws to us.

Mr or Ms Outraged. Have you ever had a conversation with him? To say he is engaging and a real people person is putting it mildly. After my 1st conversation with him I thought, what a waste. To be sitting in the Central office was a tremendous loss for students and himself. He positively lit up while discussing various subjects and I thought his strengths were being squelched by the tedious day to day of the Superintendancy. As to the problems you allude to on the BOE, Rome wasn't built in a day. There's a lot of things that need to be changed that take time. It's a tough job to go in and clean up house after the debacle of the past administration.
